I am Mrs. Young, a G/T Resource Teacher. This is my twentieth year teaching, and I LOVE what I do!
I graduated from Towson State University with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. I also graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a Master's of Science in Educational Studies. I obtained a graduate certificate in Gifted Education as well as Administration & Supervision. It is no lie that I LOVE GOING TO SCHOOL TO LEARN NEW THINGS! My goal is to instill in my students the love I have for learning.
Though I grew up and went to school here in Howard County, I started my teaching career in Anchorage, Alaska. Spending eight years in Alaska was an eye-opening experience. I enjoyed getting to know my husband's hometown and having my two daughters up in the "Last Frontier," but my heart never left this part of the world that I fondly refer to as the Eastern Woodlands. I was happy to return to Maryland to teach for Howard County Public School System and to raise my children where I grew up.
I enjoy time spent on the Shenandoah River, I am fascinated by the birds in my backyard, I like to write and to teach writing, and I am passionate about environmental preservation and conservation. I also like wrapping my brain around an occasional challenging math puzzle!
